To sum things up

July 2013

Several of you have asked where we are in the adoption process so I thought I would give you an update and several ways you can be praying.  After a conversation with a caseworker at SC DSS in April, we felt the Lord might be leading us in a different direction.  We started researching Christian agencies that facilitate adoptions here in the US.  About two weeks ago, we signed on with Lifetime Adoptions.  Lifetime, like many agencies now, does open adoptions.  That means that the birth mom will choose us and will be connected with us as we await the birth of the baby and will continue to receive updates yearly from us as she is comfortable.

We are beginning to realize that the adoption process is a lot of work!  We are in the midst of putting together a portfolio of who we are to be presented to birth mothers for possible matches.  This is basically a multi-page scrapbook of our lives that is mailed to those who are interested in us.  There is a lot of work involved in this process, as well as creating a website and video to be used to market us to birth moms.

We are also starting the process of grant applications so that we are able to pay the cost of the adoption.  From best estimates, it will cost $25,000-$30,0000.  Obviously, the Lord is going to have to provide this HUGE amount of money.

How can you pray?
1.       Pray that our trust would be in the Lord to provide a child in His time and for us not to compare ourselves to other potential families.  When you see some of the portfolios, it seems impossible that anyone would pick us.
2.       Pray that we would be diligent and creative as we put the marketing pieces together and that we would have fun with the process and not be stressed about it.
3.       Pray that the Lord would provide the money needed either through grants, loans or gifts to cover the expenses.
4.       Pray that the Lord would use this entire process to stretch us and grow us.

Thanks for praying and for being a part of our journey through these unknown waters.
